Opple Light Master
To kick things off, let's look at a compact, budget-friendly device: the Opple Light Master (specifically Version III). It allows you to measure CCT (color temperature), CRI (color rendering index), and DUV (tint, i.e., reddish or greenish shifts). While Version IV provides DUV readings directly, Version III requires manual conversion or alternative software.
While this device doesn’t offer the full capabilities of a professional spectrometer, it is more than enough for a solid initial assessment and it costs a fraction of the price.
Tasi TA636B
The TA636B is a straightforward lux meter that offers decent accuracy. While there are plenty of similar devices on the market, this one stands out because it allows you to record runtime graphs without needing to keep your phone constantly connected.
Thermal Master P1
The P1 is an absolute bang-for-your-buck champion among thermal cameras. Since it uses your smartphone as the display, the camera itself remains incredibly compact. It’s not that a thermal camera is strictly necessary, but it is always fascinating to see the insights it provides.
Fnirsi FNB C2
With more and more flashlights and batteries featuring integrated USB-C charging, it was important to me to be able to include charging curves in my reviews. The FNB C2 makes recording these a breeze via its PC software - no tedious post-processing required, a simple screenshot of the graph is all it takes!

I plan to go into more detail about my sphere in the future. For now, I’ll just say that it is a 30cm polystyrene (Styrofoam) sphere running a setup similar to gchart's project.
